Mountfield SP185 a Li Kit Self-Propelled (48V 5Ah, 46cm, New Version)

How long does the battery last on a single charge?

The battery gives you around 40 minutes of average run time. It's a 48V 5Ah battery pack. That's enough for most small to medium gardens in one go. Mowing time depends on grass length and thickness though. Thick overgrown grass will drain the battery faster than a quick trim. One battery comes included in this kit.

What size lawn can this mower handle?

This mower covers areas up to 400 m² on a single charge. That's roughly the size of a medium family garden. If your lawn is larger you might need to charge the battery partway through. The 46 cm cutting width helps you get through the job quicker too. Bigger lawns will naturally take more time and battery power.

How do I adjust the cutting height?

There's a centralised height adjustment lever with six different cutting positions. The minimum cutting height is just 1 cm. This means you can go from a short tidy cut to a longer finish depending on season. Spring grass often needs higher settings. Late summer cuts can go shorter. One lever controls all four wheels at once so the mower stays level.

What's included with the grass collector?

You get a 60L hybrid grass collector with this machine. It has a robust top section and a textile bag underneath. There's also a full box indicator so you know exactly when it needs emptying. Why does this matter? Fewer trips to the compost bin means less time spent stopping and starting your mowing session.

Is this mower heavy to push or carry?

At 25kg it's fairly light for a self-propelled mower. The self-propelled feature means you don't need to push it hard anyway. It drives itself forward as you walk behind it. For storage the handlebar folds down into a compact position. This matters if you've got limited shed or garage space.

Does the brushless motor need much maintenance?

Brushless motors need very little upkeep compared to older brushed designs. There's no carbon brush wear to worry about. This type of motor also runs quieter than standard petrol engines or brushed motors. You'll notice better efficiency too since less energy gets lost as heat. Expect a longer working life from the motor as a result.

What warranty comes with this Mountfield mower?

Mountfield offers a 2 year manufacturer warranty on this model. Spare parts stay available in the EU for 5 years after purchase. This gives you decent peace of mind if something needs replacing down the line. The mower is made in Slovakia under Mountfield's quality standards.

Can I store the mower easily between uses?

Yes the handlebar has two adjustable positions and folds flat. Full dimensions are 137 cm deep by 67 cm wide by 123 cm high when unfolded. Folding it down reduces that footprint considerably for shed storage. The Lawnmower SP185 was designed with this compact storage in mind for people without huge storage spaces.
