Cordless Lawn Mower and Strimmer Sets
A cordless lawn mower and strimmer set gives you both tools on one battery system, so the packs that power the mower also run the trimmer for the edges. It's the easy way to kit out a small or medium UK garden in one go, with no cables to trip over and no petrol to store.
The kits below pair 32-41cm push mowers with 25-30cm trimmers, and most include the batteries and charger. Compare cutting width, battery count and lawn size in our guide under the products, or see the full Lawnmaster and Yard Force ranges.

A cordless lawnmower does most of the work on a lawn, but it can't reach everything. Edges along paths, the strip under a fence, the grass round a washing line pole and the tight corners of a small garden all need a strimmer. Buying the two as a matched set means one battery platform, one charger and one place in the shed. This guide explains what to look for in each cordless tool, how far the batteries really go, and how the cordless bundles above compare on real figures from their listings.
Why buy a cordless lawn mower and strimmer set?
The main reason is the battery. In a matched pair both tools take the same packs, so you are not paying for two separate battery and charger bundles. Packs are the most expensive part of any cordless garden tool, which is why a bundle usually costs less than the same two tools bought separately.
- One platform: the packs also fit the brand's leaf blower, hedge trimmer and other garden tools, so later additions can be bought as bare tools.
- Less clutter: one charger on the shelf instead of two.
- A finished lawn in one session: mow, then swap the battery across and trim the edges while the first pack cools.
- No cables or fuel: no extension reel to drag round flower beds and no petrol to store.
The RHS notes that cordless machines "are becoming the norm" and that investing in a system of tools with interchangeable batteries saves space and cost (RHS lawn mowing guide). A cordless lawn mower and strimmer set is the simplest way into one of those systems, especially for a small garden.
Compare the bundles: cordless mower, strimmer and batteries

Three things stand out. The decks run from 32cm to 41cm, so these bundles are aimed at small and medium gardens rather than big plots. The two MX 24V bundles put the most capacity in the box, with two 4.0Ah packs each. And four of the seven have a rear roller for stripes, which you rarely get on a budget single mower.

Choosing the cordless lawnmower in a bundle
Most bundles pair a decent mower with a lighter strimmer, so the mower is the half to judge first. If you only need one machine, our lightweight cordless lawn mowers page covers the single machines.
Cutting width and lawn size
A wider deck means fewer passes but a heavier machine and more battery draw. As a rough guide, the 32-34cm decks suit gardens up to around 250-300m², which is how the makers of those decks rate them. The 36-41cm Greenworks decks cover a medium garden in fewer passes. Worx rates the 34cm WG779E at up to 230m² per charge on the twin-pack's 2.0Ah batteries, so a bigger garden on that kit means extra packs or a recharge partway through.
Grass bag, mulching and cutting heights
Grass bags range from 30 litres on the 32-34cm decks to 40 litres on the 36-41cm decks. A bigger bag means fewer trips to the compost bin. Both Lawnmaster decks and the two Greenworks bundles come with a mulching option, which chops clippings finely and drops them back on the lawn instead.
Check the height range too. The RHS advises never taking off more than a third of the grass height at once and keeping a conventional lawn at 13-25mm in summer and up to 40mm in spring and autumn (RHS). Every kit here goes down to 20-25mm and up to 60-75mm, so all of them can follow that routine. A single central lever, as on the Worx and Yard Force 40V decks, makes the change a two-second job.
Rear roller or wheels
A rear roller gives the striped finish and lets you run the deck right up to a border. Four of the seven cordless lawnmowers above have one. If stripes matter, see our cordless lawn mowers with a roller.
Push or self-propelled
Every cordless lawnmower in this range is a push model. That keeps the weight and price down: the Yard Force 20V pairing weighs 8.6kg and the Worx deck 11.1kg, against 18kg for the 37cm Lawnmaster. If you have a slope or struggle with pushing, a self-propelled cordless lawn mower bought separately is the better route, then add a bare cordless strimmer from the same brand.

Choosing the cordless strimmer in a bundle
The grass trimmer is often the cheaper half of a bundle, but you'll use it every time you cut the grass, so it's worth checking properly.
Cutting width
Grass trimmer cutting widths here are 25cm or 30cm. A 25cm head is fine for lawn edges and around obstacles; 30cm, as on the Worx WG163E and Yard Force LT G30, clears a patch of longer grass faster.
Line feed: bump or automatic
- Bump feed (Yard Force 20V): tap the head on the ground to let out more line. Simple and reliable, but you stop to do it.
- Automatic feed (most of the grass trimmers above): line feeds out each time you release the trigger. Less faff, though it can use line faster.
Edging and comfort
Look for a head that turns 90 degrees so the cordless strimmer works as an edger along paths and borders. Both Lawnmaster trimmers have a three-position head (trim, edge and reach on the 37cm version) and the 34cm one has a telescopic shaft; the Yard Force LT G30 adds a flower guard and support wheels for edging. A telescopic shaft and an adjustable front handle make a big difference to your back if you are tall.
Batteries: will one pack run both tools?
Yes, in every bundle here the packs fit both cordless tools - that's the point of buying them together. The question is how far one charge goes.
- Two-pack mowers: the Worx deck runs on two 20V packs (40V) and the Greenworks 48V deck on two 24V packs. While mowing, both batteries sit in the deck; the strimmer takes one afterwards.
- Single-pack bundles: the Yard Force bundles ship with one battery. Mow first, then move the pack to the strimmer, so the edges get whatever charge is left.
- Capacity (Ah): more amp hours means longer run time. Lawnmaster lists up to 60 minutes of run time for the 37cm model on its 4.0Ah packs, and both come with a one-hour fast charger.
The RHS points out that batteries need to cool before they will charge, so having two or more is best for a full day in the garden with several battery tools (RHS). That makes a kit with two packs in the box worth more than one with a single, bigger pack if you have a lot of edging to do. Check the charger too: a dual-slot charger like the one in the Greenworks 48V kit charges both at once.

Battery platforms: what else will the packs run?
Buying a cordless bundle ties you to that brand's battery system, so look at what else is in the range before you choose.
- Worx PowerShare: 20V packs shared across the Worx garden and DIY range. The WG927E twin pack (WG779E mower and WG157E.9 trimmer) comes with two 2.0Ah batteries and a dual charger (Worx). See all our Worx cordless lawn mowers.
- Greenworks 24V and 40V: two separate systems, so check which battery and charger a bundle uses before adding tools. More in our Greenworks cordless lawn mowers.
- Lawnmaster MX 24V: the same battery fits the brand's mowers, grass trimmers and hedge trimmers. Browse the full Lawnmaster range.
- Yard Force CR20 and 40V: the 20V kit's 5.0Ah battery fits the whole CR20 range. All models are in our Yard Force cordless lawn mowers.
- Ryobi ONE+: 18V packs across one of the biggest garden and DIY tool ranges in the UK. See our Ryobi lawn mowers.
Other brands sell cordless lawnmower and grass trimmer bundles too, many on 18V packs: Ryobi ONE+, Einhell Power X-Change and Makita LXT all pair a 33cm-class cordless lawnmower with a grass trimmer on one battery and charger. Flymo's 18V SimpliMow mowers and SimpliTrim grass trimmers share a battery too, as do Bosch's 18V garden tools. The 18V Einhell and Ryobi ranges are worth a look if you already have their drills, because the same 18V battery runs the garden tools.
If you already own tools from one of these, a bare cordless mower and bare strimmer on your existing packs will cost less than a full bundle. Our Bosch and Flymo cordless lawn mowers pages cover those brands.
Which cordless lawn mower and strimmer set suits your garden?
- Small garden, lightest pairing: the Yard Force 20V 33cm twin pack, 8.6kg with a brushless motor and rear roller.
- Most run time in the box: either Lawnmaster MX 24V kit, with two 4.0Ah packs and a one-hour fast charger.
- Medium lawn, widest cut: the Greenworks G40LM41K2X with its 41cm deck and 40-litre bag.
- Stripes on a budget: the Yard Force 40V LM G32 + LT G30, with a rear roller and a 30cm trimmer.
- Room to grow a tool collection: the Worx WG779E.2 set on PowerShare packs.

Using and looking after cordless garden tools
- Mow, then trim: mowing first shows you where the strimmer is needed. The RHS suggests cutting tight corners separately with shears or a strimmer when the deck can't reach.
- Dress for the grass trimmer: the RHS advises sturdy boots, heavy-duty gloves and safety goggles for strimming, and checking long grass for hedgehogs and other wildlife first.
- Store batteries indoors: take the packs out after use and keep them somewhere dry and frost-free over winter.
- Keep the blade sharp: a blunt mower blade tears the grass and drains the battery faster.
- Recycle old packs properly: never put lithium-ion cordless tool batteries in the household bin. Recycle Your Electricals lists local drop-off points.
Cordless mower and strimmer FAQs
Is a set cheaper than buying the mower and grass trimmer separately?
Usually, yes. The saving with a cordless lawn mower and strimmer set comes from the batteries and charger: you buy one lot of packs instead of two. If you already own cordless batteries from the same brand, buying both as bare tools is cheaper still.
Can I use the lawnmower battery in the strimmer?
Yes. In every kit on this page the same packs fit both tools. Where the deck takes two packs (Worx, Greenworks 48V), the strimmer uses one of them.
How big a lawn will a cordless bundle cut on one charge?
The makers rate these cordless bundles for roughly 230-300m² per charge. The Worx WG779E is rated at up to 230m², and the 34cm MX 24V and 40V LM G32 at up to 300m². Long or wet grass cuts that figure.
Do I need two batteries?
It helps. With two packs you can mow on one while the other charges, and a hot battery has to cool before it charges. Every bundle here except the two Yard Force pairings includes two.
Can the strimmer edge the lawn as well?
Most cordless strimmers can. Look for a rotating head and a wheel or guard: several grass trimmers above have three head positions, and the LT G30 has edging wheels and a flower guard.
Are these cordless bundles suitable for a large garden?
They are best for small and medium lawns. With decks of 32-41cm and one or two packs, a large plot means recharging partway through. For bigger lawns, look at a wider single cordless mower and add a bare strimmer on the same battery.
